The Roomies - Mandie Does France!

I need to get to France so that I can see how EA made their nectary and somehow duplicate it for my WIP world. The nectary I made isn't functional, so I need to figure out what I did wrong.

First off, let's introduce you to my family, the Roomies household!

The roomies are a household full of sims I had in TS2 and recreated in TS3, just for nostalgia. First up, we have...

 Full name: Mandie Jenner
Traits: Adventurous, Photographer's Eye, Neurotic, Vegetarian, Artistic
In The Sims 2: Mandie Jenner was a photographer that owned her own studio in Crescent County. She took pictures of famous figures such as Alakai and Nancy Miguel, and she was notorious for her ill-fated relationships.
In Saskan Harbour: Mandie Jenner works at Doo Peas Corp. as a professional blogger, and is Sandy's boss.

Full Name: Helena Jitmakusol
Traits: Hot-headed, Flirty, Genius, Friendly, Ambitious
In The Sims 2: Helena Jitmakusol was the daughter of Phil Jitmakusol (scientist), and Je'Tamie Jitmakusol (doctor). She and her brother Eric grew up to be geniuses; Helena decided to follow her mother's footsteps, and Eric decided to help his girlfriend with her up-and-coming hair salon.
In Saskan Harbour: She worked as a doctor, and helped bring all of Saskan Harbour's babies into the sim world.

Full Name: Matthew Dillard (no relation to the Dillard family)
Traits: Angler, Family-Oriented, Green Thumb, Loves The Outdoors, Lucky
In The Sims 2: Owned a farm with his wife Angela, as well as a grocery store that they sold their produce in.
In Saskan Harbour: He owned a plot of land in the mountains with his wife.

Full Name: Jason Glendale
Traits: Lucky, Good Kisser, Neat, Natural Cook, Green Thumb
In The Sims 2: Husband to Myettah Glendale, and father to 12 kids.

Ok, let's get started!

For the nature freaks, I bought a nice little cabin in SV that needs refurbishing, if you ask me. But that's not what I made them for. Let there be France!

And so, I sent Helena off to go get a job at Bleeding Heart, and I sent the boys over to the unoccupied house over there to steal some fish.

Champ Le Sims is gorgeous, really. I'd love to actually create a town like this. Maybe I should take notes...

I wish I knew what terrain paint they used so I can recreate those textures. So beautiful!!
We wasted no time. Mandie chatted up the hot (but unavailable) French guy while I tried to figure out the "secret" to making a functional nectary. Unsuccessfully.  Sigh, oh well.

I wasn't going to let that ruin our adventure, so I sent her to the base camp to get a new adventure. Apparently, Gerard Morel lost a "mysterious item" in the depths of the Celtic ruins. Off we go!
------A Day Later------
"I...er...I found your baseball, sir."

"Ah, Madame! You have returned my precious baseball. I thank you from the depths of my heart. It is lucky you see, I would never dare to go into a place like those ruins without it at my side. That is why I had to pay you to do it for me. Speaking of payment, here are some ancient coins. You will find these scattered around many tombs that you explore. Some merchants, for instance, Alber Fouchier, only accept these for their wares. The most interesting of items can be purchased with them. Now, enjoy the rest of your time in Champs Le Sims!"
"....right. Hey, could you teach me how to french kiss?"

After finding out that hot French guy #2 is also married, Mandie returned back to the base camp for another adventure.

"Ooh ooh Creator, let's do this one!"

Sure, what does it say?

"Help! As the curator of the museum, I'm responsible for the safe-keeping of its Relics, art, and treasures. Unfortunately, the security guards are abandoning their posts. I am in need of a brave soul to assist me at the museum. Interested parties are to speak to me, Laurent Durand, at their earliest convenience."

...fine, just don't get yourself killed.

"Laurent!"

"Mandie! Oh thank goodness there is somebody else in Champs Les Sims who cares remotely for the museum's well-being! For some inexplicable reason the security guards keep quitting. They just up and leave and they will not tell me why! Something is going on here and I intend to get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, I'd like you to patrol the museum. Investigate the Egyptian gallery and see if you can find anything."

"Sure!"

"I don't think I want to do this anymore."
Too bad, you chose it.
"But-"
No.

No pictures, but the adventure was a fail. God EA, can't you give me a hint?

And back home we go!

I know this was completely random, but I guess a random post is the perfect way to break in a random blog. Goodnight all!

  1. I know the hint to the museum quest. You have to open up the downstairs, there is a hole to investigate on the main right hand side of the museum. I didn't think I'd ever find the trick to that one.

Hey Cheezy, found your new blog!

  2. LOL, so did Gerard teach her how to french kiss?
The other countries are so beautiful.

  3. Cute blog, random yet very entertaining! :D

If I'm remembering it right, you have to go near the sarcophagus where you'll get some kind of pop-up message.

  4. Haha, cute. :D Neat character writeups, and sweet little side story.

I hope you are able to recreate the nectary to your liking. Sometimes it seems so easy when other people build something, but when you try to do it yourself something goes wrong! So, hopefully you can get yours working correctly and all that jazz. :D

  5. PiB - ...oh. Crap. #@#!@!!! Now Mandie will kill me once I tell her the impossible tomb was indeed possible.

Thanks, I hope you enjoy! :D

Dee - No, Gerard did not because of his supposed "wife". I don't get it, aren't sim Frenchmen supposed to be trampy?

Sigh, I know...I wish I could live there. And I'll have to keep an eye on the roomies because Mandie brought along quite a few bottles of wine. I mean, nectar.

Umi - Thank you!! I tried that, I even had her sleep in it! Nothing. :( Oh well, we'll have to go back for another try later.

Kaleeko - Muchas gracias. :) I'm trying to figure out what hacks I need and how to use them, but no matter what I do it just doesn't work. I think I need to re-read fluttereyes' instructions again.

  7. I thought so too Cheezy. That frenchman is ruining the french mens reputation. :D

Seriously though. I hope not. My husbands grandfather was French. Husband has a lot of French blood.
    :D

  8. Good luck with your new blog! Have fun recreating the nectary. Sim France is very well done. Actually, I think all the WA locations are gorgeous.

And have fun refurbishing the roomies house. :)

  9. Dee - Ahahaha, uh oh! Well, I'm sure your hubby isn't a typical Frenchman, and definitely not a typical sim Frenchman. ;) Seriously though, what a letdown. I was hoping Mandie would have a fling and an oopsie baby with one of the locals. She really does have the worst luck with men, lol

Chrysame - Thank you! All the WA locations are indeed gorgeous, but I think Sim Egypt and Sim France are my favorites. I never really got into Sim China.

And I will, I love redecorating things. :)
